Karen Cawley joined Circle the City in January 2009 as Executive Director. Karen brings over 20 years of experience in health care executive management, with a broad background in operations spanning both hospitals and ambulatory clinical services. She also has extensive experience with capital project planning and execution. Her career has been spent in medical facilities that serve as the primary safety net organizations in their communities, managing largely indigent, disenfranchised patient populations.

Karen holds a M.S. in Health Care Administration from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas and she completed her administrative residency at Parkland Health & Hospital System in Dallas. She is published in The New England Journal of Medicine and has completed a management fellowship with the National Association of Public Hospitals in conjunction with New York University. Karen has also completed a Leadership Foundation Fellowship sponsored by the International Women’s Forum in conjunction with Harvard Business School.
